Crazy in Love...

First off, I would like to thank you for taking the time to park on my page for a little while & entertain my daily craziness ;)

First and foremost, I am a woman, a mother, a friend, a confidant, and a softy... However, my true goal is to be an ambassador to all - to be an ear or two to my friends, acquaintances or passerbys... I wish to leave your life a little better than what it might have been... I hope that I will have made a difference - in a positive way... I am truly gratified by being able to be there for someone in their time of need or joy and in turn learn from others! :)))

You will find that I am a Realtor by trade, however, with a philanthropist mentality...

However, here we will talk about everything under the sun... Follow me as I also chronicle my 'Get Healthy' Journey as Georges and I 'shake it off and firm it up' :) ~ It is Insanity, Baby!

From the "City that Never Sleeps" (New York) yes, thats where I hail from... to another Great City.. Las Vegas - which I now call home. I'm a proud mom of a beautiful 13 year old boy (my inspiration & my reason) and in love with my best friend!

I'm very open & positive and wish to meet people who exude the same kind of Zest for Life!!

#ThrowbackTuesdays - At Last!

I know... I know... it is not Tuesday... I was sooo busy yesterday with all the runnings around of Christmas & making the rounds to loved ones that I simply missed it! Anyway, it is never too late to sit back and enjoy the smooth, strong voice of Etta James!

I loooove this song!  Enjoy dear friends!

Merry Christmas to you!

May you be blessed as your share this special time with your loved ones!

This is my first video made with Movie Maker!
I hope you'll like it.
At last is a very special song, so sweet and lovely, as Etta James' voice.
Enjoy it and let me know if you like it :)

Lyrics:
At last
my love has come along
my lonely days over
and life is like a song

Ooh, yeah, yeah
At last
the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up in clover
the night I looked at you

I found a dream
that I could speak to
A dream that I
can call my own
I found a thrill
to press my cheek to
A thrill that I have never known
Ohh, yeah, yeah

You smile
you smile
Ooh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven
for you are mine at last

Oh, to be a child again...

Lately, I have been pretty overwhelmed... many things going on at once & feelings of being pulled in so many directions... I kind of feel like un barco a la deriva (a boat without direction)... not a good place to be.

In my search of something to grasp on to... (biblically speaking) I came across this article... Why do we lose these qualities? Why can we not be like these little children?  For me, it was a good reminder & I am going to work on incorporating one of these into my daily life - step by step...

take a moment to check it out...

Lesson 1: Let Things Go

“ Multitasking may be popular, but the Bible tells us to give our mind to what we are doing. ”

One thing about children is they are extremely forgiving. One minute they can be fighting over a toy and the next minute they're hugging.

I can tell you that hating people is complicated and it's hard work. You can carry a grudge and be bitter, resentful, mad and offended. And every time you see "that person" you can cringe inside and you can talk about them behind their back—or you can spare yourself the trouble.

Listen, don't waste the rest of your life sulking about some unfair thing that happened to you. Get yourself off your mind…and simplify.

Lesson 2: Be a Dreamer

Another thing children do that makes their lives simple is that they so easily believe. They believe in magic and fairytales. They have no problem coming up with imaginary playmates or imagining life to be amazing and fantastic.

There's a book by John Ortberg called God Is Closer Than You Think. And in it, he writes about a little girl who said she knew Jesus was living in her heart because when she put her hand to her chest, she could feel Him walking around.

Now, we adults know she was just feeling her heartbeat. But that little childlike spirit felt God inside her! And when you think about it, she was right because a beating heart is a sign that life is in you.

As adults, we need to move into the supernatural realm and start dreaming again. We need to create joy in our own lives. It's a right and privilege we have as children of God, but it's a decision we must choose to make.

Lesson 3: Pick Up Your Toys

Some of us can simplify our lives very easily, even without using our imaginations.

For one thing, we can go home and clean up our rooms. Keep the stuff you use and keep the stuff you love. But give away what you're holding on to for someday because odds are when you need it, you won't remember where you put it.

Lesson 4: Focus Your Attention

Another way you can simplify your life is to practice doing one thing at a time. Multitasking may be popular, but the Bible tells us to give our mind to what we are doing (see Ecclesiastes 5:1).

Lesson 5: Ask Your Father

Finally, you can simplify your life just by trusting that God loves you and hears your prayers. Philippians 4:6 says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (NIV).

If you want something, ask Him for it. If it's right, He'll give it to you. If it's not, just know He has something better for you in mind.

It really is that simple! I encourage you to stop questioning God with your mind, and start trusting Him with your heart.

Be a little more childlike in your approach to life. Who knows…you may just feel Jesus walking around in your heart.

Sambalatte!!!

Hello Coffee Lovers!

Latte

Sip! Savor! Socialize!

I drove ALL the way across town yesterday just to try this much talked about place!

May I be honest?  Well, the good first: Upon approaching the lovely shop, I see many, hip, stylish folk enjoying the sun as they sip on their latte... So, I walk in and, Wow! I immediately love it here & wonder, why, oh why, do we not have one in Henderson / Green Valley area?  I mean, we are hip too! At least, I am! :)   The decor, the music, the people, the vibe - All Tops!  However, since I did not have time to stay I decided to get a Fazenda Lagoa to go.  I was all excited to sip the hot, dark liquid and then... the unexpected happened --- I tasted filter, I tasted the filter that they poured the espresso thru... now, I do not wish to be unfair - so, I tried again and again and still the same yucky filter taste... am I alone?  I really wanna love them...

Well, anyone who knows me - knows that I LOVE Coffee! There is no doubt about it!  So, with that being said... I will give them another try and take the time to savor the ambiance and the java...  I look forward to another visit and the ability to maybe socialize and blog my little heart away for any number of hours...

I have the feeling that sneaking away from the humdrum of work will be well worth it!

Cheers!

Bio Bay & Marriage Counseling...

I wanted to share a little bit of our experience with you while we were visiting Puerto Rico last week… below is just a lil bite of our adventure…

Sooo Glad that we toured the Bio Bay! It is an experience like none other... I was with a group and we took the last night tour - the Owner, Mike was very thorough and informative... it seems like a lot at first, however, you will appreciate it when you are in the lagoon... Puerto Rico (Fajardo area) offers the ONLY lagoon access in the world & let me tell you - I would have it no other way... We joked that this was a team building, marriage workshop event :) ~~~ communication is key! lol ~~ Paddling thru the Mangrove trees to the open bay was sooo, Wow! As you paddle you light up the water & see all the beautiful 'blue' shrimp, fish, and stingrays go by... The luminescence is caused by micro-organisms (dinoflagellates) which glow whenever the water is disturbed, leaving a trail of neon blue.  As a matter fact, some shrimp managed to end up in our kayak - such fun! What a wonderful way to experience God's beauty!

If you are visiting Puerto Rico, please make sure to see Mike @ Enchanted Island Tours - you will not be sorry... professionalism and his service are Tops!

Just wanted to give a thank to you Victor & Jorge who pulled our people all thru the bay - without you guys - whew! it would have been quite difficult! Thank you Dan, for your passion & sharing your knowledge and love of the Bay!

And so our journey goes...

You will not believe the delays & mishaps tht have happened on this plane...

First, they are delayed because of issues in Miami... (Which have what to do w Vegas?)

Second, they are delayed because the power went out in 'our' terminal and the jet way was still attached to the plane, therefore, not allowing us to take off... Ughhhh... Nowhere else in the airport - just us...

Now... An hour later the pilot comes back on and says... 'I need your cooperation, not only did that weird thing of the power going out happen, now we have two passengers that left the plane and we do not know who they are, we will need to go over the flight manifest... What the... Ugh... So, we begin our journey...

Btw, I am restless & posting this from the plane @ 140am... God help us... your constant companion,

NO Sugar = -4 lbs! Yes!

I wanted to with those of you who have been sharing my journey with me. Today, I stepped on what I sometimes consider 'the enemy'. I stepped down and waited for the inevitable & guess what showed up... A 4lb lighter version of myself. I was beaming. I started this a week and a half ago and I have to admit the first few days were quite difficult - especially waking and Not partaking in my daily ritual... That first cup of coffee. So far at least 70% of the days I spent enduring headaches sans medication and some nightly restlessness. I just never realized what a hold sugar really had on me. Now, I eat pretty healthy, however, I never realized how sneaky sugar really was. When I started looking really close, I found t was incorporated into nearly everything... I am happy to report that I am feeling great without all of that sugar flowing in my bloodstream. I plan on incorporating fruits and grains in the next two weeks or less. By the way, I should also mention that I workout at least five times a week with a weekend workout typically being a sport of some kind and I hula hoop as well :)

Cheers!

Better days ahead... I hope -- or else... I am going to the nearest Starbucks!!!

So, I have been off of coffee since last week and let me tell you… it has been hard!  I know some people have addictions, i.e. pain meds, drugs, ciggs, what have you… however, mine is not as simple as that! I LOVE coffee! I love everything about it! I love the smell as I crack open the jar or can or pouch, I love the smell of it in the morning as I prepare it – I love the taste of it with my steamed milk and 1 or 2 Raw sugars, I love the smell of it in the evening when I have it (or had it)! So, every time I see it, pass by Starbucks or smell it from some one nearby – I am saddened… especially now as I sit here and blog about this… I am half heartedly enjoying my CALM Full Leaf TAZO tea from Starbucks… :/ ~~~ It sucks! Yes, I know tea is healthier for you without all the stuff that is added to coffee, however, it is not the same – when I wake in the a.m. I want Java! Tea does not satisfy me – it is like drinking flavored hot water… now, do not get me wrong – I have many great teas at home, however, they are for evening drinking, for calming, for digestion, soothing, etc… not for waking… ok, I am done! Sorry for the rant…

To throw more craziness into the mix – I have been fasting from carbs and ALL sugar! Yep, that’s right, I said it – SUGAR!  The last few days have not been easy, not because of giving up on the taste for these sneaky weight gainers, nooo… because of the awful headaches I have been experiencing… being off of the coffee has not helped either!  Thank God the restless nights have subsided…

On a great note ------- I have been back in the gym for the last two weeks and I feel great! Now, that I am done with all of my after work duties – it is Me time again!  I hope you are enjoying some Me time as well.  It is so important for us to do so.

Well, friends, I am off to enjoy my homemade grilled chicken and rocket salad with, of course, my now iced CALM Full Leaf TAZO tea J

Make it a great day & Healthy, Productive Day!

Amidst the Rough Times... There is always time to dance!

This goes to show that you cannot beat down on someone's Spirit - at least not for too long!

Kudos to the people of Lebanon for showing us 'their' Spirit!

on March 5th, 2011, Beirut's Rafic Hariri Intl. Airport came to life when I saw employees, security staff and passengers of all ages dancing to a mix of Lebanese folk & modern dance music! Gotta love the Lebanese spirit! I'm really amazed with that spirit with all the hard political and economical situations, still you will feel that secret spirit of Loving to Live proudly.....I love the Lebanese people....

Coffee and Lent...

Since I have gotten back on my game these last two weeks, I have been feeling great!  Every time I laugh or bend over – I feel those lovely pains reminding me that the work I am putting in is paying off J

In line with getting healthier and transforming myself daily… I am considering using the time of Lent as a way to begin my fast.  Lent is not something that is typically recognized in my denomination, however, being that it is a set time – it will work for me and the goals that I wish to achieve – spiritually and physically.  I am going to challenge myself to give up all sweets and dare I say this:::::::: Coffee! Ugh!  So, by sundown today, I will begin… for those who know me very well, this is going to be a challenge!  A very tough one indeed!  However, I am looking forward to a closer walk with my Lord and the health benefits that come along with it will add to my journey.

Also, I have been very interested in starting The Daniel Fast – since, I have not prepared myself for it (as they suggest you do) I was thinking that I might start it a week into Lent to allow my body the time to adjust accordingly.  Though I must say… many of the foods they encourage are already staples in my diet.

Are you sacrificing anything for Lent?  I would be interested to know and welcome the support as well.

Buon Gusto! Buona Salute!

Sooo... On the great reviews of my fellow yelpers we went out and tried this place! Thanks people! We happen to be locals in the area and have never been here.  So glad we did!

Buon Gusto is like your typical Italian eatery in New York.  Looked much like a pizzeria, however, with a dining room that extended a bit back.  The wait was not bad and when we were seated - the servers were attentive.

I ordered the Gnocchi w Tomato Cream sauce and Geo had the Chicken Alfredo. Wow! Both dishes were fantastic!  We also had the Antipasto for an appetizer - too much food for me as a salad came with our meal.  Still, I have to say that it was so fresh that I did not mind eating salad twice.

With all the great choices on the menu from hot sandwiches to perfect pastas to fish entrees... we will definitely be back!  Next time we want to try their lunch specials.  The flavorful food compensates for the lack of pizzazz you would normally seek in a restaurant outing.

We are grateful to have found a great local spot!  I will highly recommend that you come and try it out even if you do not live in Henderson.
I am sure that Dominic, the owner, would love to have ya!

Buona Salute!

MOZen Bistro Review...

MOZen Bistro @ Mandarin Oriental

Walking into the Mandarin Oriental I was overwhelmed by the simple beauty of the décor.  Red was the theme and I love Red!
We headed up to the bistro and after arriving and checking out the menu - I would say that they represent Asian fusion cuisine.  We noshed on some raw tuna, raw salmon and spicy tuna rolls for our appetizer.  They were delectable.  We started with the Salad Caprese and for our main courses Georges ordered the 72 Hour Kobe Short Rib and I had the Halibut.  Both dishes were very tasty.  I cannot say that the food was THE best, however, it was very good.  Things seemed to happen so fast as I was on a company dinner that, unfortunately, I did not take the time to savor the dishes.  If we go back again, I would probably check out the Indian offerings they had – I believe we missed out on the lamb… the trio of desserts was an okay touch – the crème brulee was okay – not the best (I am sorry to say that because I wanted it to be fantastic).
Dsc07299
To finish our night… as suggested by the elevator gentleman, we headed on up to the 23rd floor to check out the amazing views the lounge area offered.  I advise you do the same – up there I believe is also the check in area for the hotel.

Shape Up or Ship Out... j / k...

Loving my new ‘Shape Ups’ – never thought I would buy something like this – in fact, at one time I may have laughed at others wearing them… Now, here I am – they are quite comfortable.  I tested them out at work the other day and wore them into the night and woke up feeling just fine.  Some have reported sore legs or bum, however, I feel fine.  I plan to wear these and test them out in my next burn session – these are the SRTs and they claim to promote the most burn.
Now, I am a lover of pink and pink and black go nicely together, so, when I saw these being advertised by Kim K – they caught my eye… not because of her, because of the great color combo and style…  Go stop by your local Skechers store – you might be surprised to find many different styles – maybe even become one of ‘us’… hehehe

Cupid Let Loose His Bow...

So… yesterday was Valentine’s day… the night before I was surprised by a single solitary rose that made me emotional… I woke up to adoration: hugs and kisses by G… came home to this lovely arrangement you see below… G has learned that Tulips are my all-time favorite – and when I came home to these lovelies… I cried as I was overcome by waves of emotion… We went to our favorite hideaway and shared special time over a special meal… I am truly grateful for the blessings that my Lord has bestowed upon me and I thank HIM for blessing me with a wonderful partner.

I hope your Valentine’s was equally beautiful.

Audaciously Arrogant... Clever one... or Not!

Audaciously Arrogant… that is a new one - lol

So it goes… I guess you cannot please all of the people all of the time!

I do not want to get into it too much here – all I can really say is how amazed I am how some check their values at the door when it comes to making money… Money, money, money… Root of all evil? Yes, I do believe so… what do you think?

That is all for now on this one… for I know that the power of life and death is in the tongue – I will guard mine now and choose Life!

Letting Go... why am I 'White Knuckling' this???

They say that laughter is good for the soul… believe me… I totally agree with that… however, putting my thoughts on paper is equally healing…

So… with that being said, here I go…

Family…………………… Oh, Family! This last month or so has been very trying for me as well as a learning experience, hence, my blogging being a little more closer to home.  I have been trying my hardest to make changes in others lives… it does not work… it only frustrates me more and leaves me drained…  I heard today that, ‘Getting entangled in others ‘stuff’ steals your (my) joy!’ Oh, how true this is… I am learning this the ‘hardest’ way possible.  I must remember this on a moment by moment basis…  things are not fixed as of yet, however, I am feeling better today as I am making a covenant with God to not get entangled anymore and to mind my words and pray them into submission :)   I shall see how this goes…

Pray for me when you talk to God – I know that prayer moves mountains and that it never really is as bad as we make it seem…

Insist, Insist, Insist... Guess What? It continues to Persist...

feeling blue... I did it again! I let my passion take over - it appears not in the good way... I hate to speak in code, however, I really do not want to go into too much detail... let me just say that I tried over and over to get my point across and show why I felt I was right and it lead me to misery... :(  feeling sad...

I decided that I must agree to disagree and Let Go! Oh, it is so hard for me to do! I am a control freak and it is not easy to let things just be.  However, so goes the saying, ‘You can only lead a horse to water - you cannot make them drink’  ~~~  So, I must - I really have zero choice...

Praying to God that he gets me through this...

sadly yours,

Feelings... they are so fickle... B-)

Guess what?!

I am feeling so much better! It is amazing how God’s peace ushers in when I surrender… J

I am determined to cast down negative thoughts… because, you know, they lead to negative feelings… out with those!

Have a great day, my dear friends!

I am here if you need to vent or get some thing/s off your chest…

However, might I suggest that you take it heavenward first as this always leaves me a peace B-)

Running on Empty...

I have been feeling stressed lately… this is not a normal everyday feeling for me…  as I think about it – I have to believe it is because I am running on empty.  It is kind of like when you do not fill up your car and you drive around town constantly worried that the car will stop… this is my non stop brain… When I stop to look at all the things I am doing at once – I begin to feel overwhelmed… I keep reminding myself that soon I will have a little more me time, however, that ‘me’ time cannot get here soon enough.  I just might lose it :/  In the not so distant past, ‘me’ time used to be going to the gym – outdoor activities, bible studies, girlie time, etc… I have not done any of it at all lately… hence, the burn out feeling.

I have been feeling this way and I am feeling this way still this morning… I have been really attempting to get out of this funk – I forget for a minute what is troubling me and then it quickly returns making me feel like caca… ugh!

I know that the only way I can get out of this is with God’s help… ‘I’ have tried… and Nothing! So… I am going to go to my private place a.k.a. office restroom – to pray… I shall return and I know that I know that I will feel better… J

Btw, how do you de stress?

Happy New Year, my dears!!!

I wanted to start my 2011 blogging with a bunch of wonderful wishes for all of you!

I wish you joy, peace and love that only comes from up above!

I pray that you may have abundance with hard work, of course! J

Let me share some of my desires for the New Year…

-      To have a more committed relationship with my Lord

-      To be a better listener to my teenager (oh, the teenage years)

-      To be a better woman, lover, spouse, and partner to my wonderful other half J

-      To become a smaller, healthier version of myself

-      To slow down… and realize that it is the ‘quality’ not the amount of time that is most important…
